What we are seeing for the first time, however, is how upset he gets when denied the opportunity to play mentor to someone.
Kingfisher Calendar model Angela Johnson was supposed to be the next big find from Salman’s stables, but he is mighty unhappy after the pretty lady went ahead and worked in a commercial before he could officially “launch” her.
Sallu, who wanted Angela to make her first on screen appearance in Sohail Khan’s Sher Khan, had prohibited her from making any public appearances before that. However, the half-Indian half-Icelandic model went against his wishes and signed a cold drink commercial directed by Telugu star Mahesh Babu. And this, our sources say, has really irked Sallu.
“Salman wanted to keep Angela under wraps and introduce her to the public only when the film is up for release. A debut opposite Salman is a big thing, and Sallu wanted to use that to promote the film as well. But now he fears that opportunity is gone,” says an industry insider.
A reliable source from the ad agency however defends Angela, saying that the film has been put on hold for almost three years now, leaving Angela jobless.
“The Khan brothers have their calendars full and Sher Khan is not going to start until the end of 2013, leaving Angela with no choice but look for work elsewhere. You can’t hold it against her that she’s trying to make a living for herself,” the source says, adding, “Besides you can hardly tell that it’s Angela Johnson”.
Well, let’s just hope things get better between Angela and Sallu.
